Friendship activities
Our Friendship services connect people to other people, who are looking for someone to talk to or to go outdoors with, for example. You can participate as a friend volunteer according to your own schedule and interests.
Our friendship coordinators are available Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Pohjoispuisto 2, 28100 Pori, or by calling 044 2952260. They also monitor the email address spr.ystavavalitys (a) gmail.com. Note: We take a break from our on-call services during the summer.
What do our volunteers do?
The volunteers in our friendship program do many things:
- For example, friends are friends to someone who is looking for a friend.
- Friends can also join an outdoor group to help out occasionally or regularly, if they wish.
- Our “youth friends” are young people who want to be a friend to another young person. We define “youth” as anyone under 30 years of age.
- Friend coordinators are on call as mentioned above, interview those wishing to become friends, and maintain records of people in need of a friend.
How can you get involved?
The best way to get involved is by taking the basic friend volunteer course. These are held both online and in-person in the spring and fall. You can find more information about the training sessions under “Oma Punainen” events.
You can also contact our friendship coordinators (contact information above). Or for more information, email spr.pori (at) gmail.com.
