Red Cross Outdoors

The Red Cross Outdoors group

Helsinki reception centre

The Red Cross Outdoors group organizes outdoor and fitness activities to promote mental and physical wellbeing. While the group is generally open to anyone, the target audience is refugees and immigrants who are relatively new to Finland and adjusting to the life and culture here. We plan events twice a month - anything from a simple walk around a neighborhood to a more organized sports event.

Time: every other Sunday 15.2, 1.3, 15.3, 29.3, 12.4, 26.4, 10.5, 24.5 at 14.00 o’clock

Volunteering at the reception centre

The Helsinki Reception Centre's Punavuori unit is a transit centre for adults and families maintained by the Finnish Immigration Service, which is primarily intended for newly arrived asylum seekers. After an asylum seeker has had an asylum interview, he or she is transferred to another centre to await a decision.
